Renowned poet Padmasree Sugathakumari's birthday was celebrtated by the NSS unit of GVHSS perinthalmanna on 22nd January 2021."This light,The greenery flowers, wind and The Chirping of birds,I have got a little more time for these".These were the words of state's eminent poet Sugathakumari on her last 86th birthday celebration.
As an environmentalist, themes of mother Nature regularly appeared in her poems. Due to Covid pandemic situation with available students and staff Radhika.M.G, Ambili.N, Sajna Ambalakuth, Thajuneesa the whole NSS team jointly planted 2 saplings of jackfruit and suppotta in the school premises.Student S.Chinmaya recited the poet's famous poem 'Oru thai Nadam nammukkammakku vendi' while planting the saplings.
Our first year NSS volunteers planted variety of saplings at their homes. First year volunteer Manjima.C also recited same poem 'oru thai nadam' and sent in our whatsapp NSS group thus showing sincere gratitude to our pensive poet whose gap is ever unfilled like countless unplanted trees on earth.
